Our Hamptons Inspired Nursery: Final Reveal!

In case you missed it, we welcomed the arrival of our first baby four months ago on April 19th, 2015!

This post has been a long time coming, as we meant to post it before Sami came...
better late than never, right?!

When we found out we were expecting a boy, we were super excited to start putting the nursery together.  Here's our original design plan:

We strayed a little from some of our initial ideas & over time the nursery developed more of a travel/nautical vibe - without being too literal, as we didn't want anything too theme specific.  Think, Hamptons meets World Traveler meets baby ;)

One of the changes that gave the biggest impact was the board & batten wall we added.  It was fairly inexpensive & easy to install, but gave a lot of character to the room:

All the larger furniture pieces (crib, glider, & dresser) were bought with the idea of either transitioning well out of the "baby" stage and/or being able to be used for future babies - boy or girl.

We used some beautiful old barnwood, coupled with some inexpensive brackets from IKEA to create some custom shelving:

The crib was one of the first items we bought for the room - it turned out to be a little more off-white than we had hoped, but it wasn't a deal breaker:

The ceiling decals are another one of our favorite things about the nursery.  They are whimsical & the "compass star" goes perfectly with our nautical/travel feel.  Plus, they are fun for Sami to look at too  :)

This light-up marquee star that we into a turned clock is the perfect night-lite for middle of the night nursing sessions:

We replaced some builder-grade wire shelving with a simple closet kit.  We also ended up buying another set of the striped baskets for more hidden storage:

The gallery wall has a lot of personal meaning sprinkled throughout.  Many of the items were DIY projects too:

We've included a Source List below, along with links to all of our nursery posts from start to finish if you'd like more information about any items or projects.  Please let us know if you have any other questions.  Hope you liked Sami's nursery!

    1. Thank you so much! I believe it was a clearance buy from Lowe's or Home Depot....it was several years ago, so I'm not 100% sure.

    2. Love your style! Do you remember where you got the curtain rod and clips from?

    3. Thank you! Yes - the rod & clips were from Target. They were either Room Essentials or Xhilaration brand I think....either way, they were really expensive - nothing too fancy! :)

    1. Thank you! Congrats on your little one! It was a clearance buy from several years ago - we bought it at either Home Depot or Lowe's...can't remember exactly. I don't know that they carry the exact same light anymore, but they do have similar options. Try looking through their "semi-flushmount" lights - hope that helps! Good luck on the board + batten wall too! :)

  4. Lovely nursery and color scheme. May I ask the color of the rug in the room?

    1. Thank you so much! I have no idea what brand or color exactly it is though - we are the second owners of this house & didn't originally choose the carpet, so I'm not sure what it is called. Sorry about that! :)
